The Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act, 2003 (Act No 53 of 2003) defines the required measures for B-BBBE compliance.
Occupational medical practitioners may be requested to offer clients evidence of measurement of their -BBBE status.
The Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act defines Codes of Good Practice, which were amended by Government Gazette 36928, General Notice 1019, dated 11 October 2013; these came into operation on 11 October 2014.
This Government Gazette is attached and, in chapter 4, it defines an EME= Exempted Micro Enterprise as any enterprise with a total annual revenue of R 10 million or less.
An EME has a level 4 status (unless 100% black owned, in which case it has a level 1 status).
An EME is only required to obtain a sworn affidavit on an annual basis confirming that annual turnover and the level of black ownership.
