Academic qualifications: Shahieda Adams is a registrar currently based in the Provincial Medical Advisory Project and is attached to the School of Public Health and Family Medicine at the University of Cape Town (UCT). She obtained her MBChB medical degree from the University of Cape Town Medical School (1990). Her post-graduate qualifications include a Diploma in Occupational Health (UCT) and a Masters in Family Medicine (US.). She is currently enrolled for an MMed in Occupational Medicine at UCT. Work experience: Her current work involves mainly occupational disease management and facilitating the resolution of occupational disease claims. Prior to this she worked in local government providing occupational health services to employees. Dr Adams also spent 2 years at the Industrial Health research Group performing health and safety training , medical surveillance, auditing of surveillance programmes and clinical work at the Worker’s clinic. Involvement in specific projects: Current research interests include a focus on the development of a health information system to capture compensation data and the health effects associated with sulphur dioxide exposure.
