Involvement with SASOM:
- Professor Rajen Naidoo is an Executive Member of the SASOM KZN Chapter, and has been in this position for several years. His responsibility within the Chapter is to assist with CPD activities.

Work experience:
- Professor Naidoo has been involved in occupational medicine since 1992, when he was appointed Clinical Director of the Industrial Health Unit, a non-governmental organisation providing health and safety services to the trade unions in KwaZulu-Natal. In 1994, he joined the Department of Community Health at the University of Natal (now part of the Univ of KwaZulu-Natal) with the mandate to develop the academic occupational health programme within the Department. He was responsible for the establishment of the specialist Occupational Medicine Clinic located at King Edward Hospital. Together with other colleagues at the University, he assisted in the launching of the postgraduate diploma in occupational health in 1999, and a masters level programme in occupational and environmental health in 2003.
- In 2002, the University established the Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health, and Prof Naidoo was appointed as Deputy Director. He is currently Associate Professor: Occupational Medicine at the institution.
- His research interests are respiratory outcomes due to occupational and environmental exposures.
Relevant affiliations (societies/associations):
- Prof Naidoo is a member of the Technical Committee for Occupational Diseases, in the Office of the Compensation Commissioner, and is also the chair of the Provincial Medical Advisory Panel in KwaZulu-Natal.
- He was recently appointed to the Council of the National Asthma Education Project, a special joint structure of the Allergy Society of South Africa and the South African Thoracic Society.
- He is a co-Programme Manager of the University of Michigan/Fogarty International Center's Southern African Training and Research in Environmental and Occupational Health, as well as co-Regional Programme Director of the Swedish International Development Agency's Work and Health in Southern Africa Programme.
